HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
So guys, I know the lack of bbloging in 2014 was just crazy, but I am trying to bblog at least once every two weeks for the next couple of months! I have SO many products that I have been loving and using and I just want to share them all with you.
I think the shorter I keep the bblogs the better, so I'm just going to start before I ramble on and on!
THE NEUTRAL LOOK, everyone has their one signature look that they do every day or when they feel like wearing makeup. My neutral look consists of the following products...
I know its looks like a lot of products, but I promise you I narrowed the products now to the bare essentials.
So, to begin with I always prime my face in order to keep my makeup in place and to ensure my face is hydrated and moisturised. I have recently been loving the Bourjois Paris Happy Light Luminous Serum Primer - initially I bought this primer as it was on sale and I was in a rush when purchasing it, thank God I did though! This primer honestly does what it says on the tin and its even better as its for normal to to dry skin, so its perfect for me. I would most definitley recommend this primer (it's available in matte too - also amazing!).
Next, I go in with my foundation. This foundation literally feels SO light and it is such a great product. Its perfect coverage for day-to-day wear, but without compromising with a heavy or cake texture (which I despise, who doesn't?!). It has become one of my faves!
After applying my foundation, I apply the NYX concealer where necessary. Im not a fan of over doing concealer as I feel as though the foundation is great coverage as it is. However, I still apply a tad over my upper lip, between my brows, a little on my nose and on my chin (random, I know) but its where I feel its necessary. This concealer was purchased at IMATS 2014 purely as an impulse buy, but now it is my favourite concealer to date. Its full coverage yet blends so effortlessly into the skin. I apply it with the Royal & Langnickel, Silk Pro Flat Concealer Brush as for me personally, it gives the best results.
To set the above in place, I use my powder that I actually swear by. Its the MAC mineralize skinfinish powder. This powder sets my makeup so well and it literally doesn't budge! It gives a light-matte finish and adds that extra bit of coverage.
Of course, by this point I'm looking rather pale, so to add some dimension and colour I use my bronzer to very lightly sculpt my cheekbones. Funnily enough, I bought this bronzer at a service station (I find makeup wherever I go). Anyways, Makeover Essentials had a little stand at this station and had some amazing deals so I went ahead and purchased this bronzer in the shade Terra Glow. This product has a lot of mixed reviews, however I actually love this bronzer and it fits my skin tone so well! I use an angled contour brush to lightly sweep over my cheekbones, it just adds that little bit of glow and definition.
Next, is blush. I think I have mentioned how much I love the Nars and Charlotte Tilbury blushers, so I thought I would show you lovely readers another favourite of mine. Its the Zoeva Blusher in the shade he loves me, maybe. This is quite a recent purchase but I have used it everyday since I bought it. It doesn't budge!! Honestly, blushers always fade throughout the day but this blush looks exactly how is did at 8pm when it was applied at 8am. Definitely a big recommendation! :)
No base is complete without a little highlight to make you look more radiant, awake and flawless. This multi-purpose cream colour base from MAC is amazing. I use it as a highlighter and apply it with my fingertips and then run a stipple brush over it so I don't have any blotches of highlighter anywhere (a big no no). I love buying multipurpose products as I feel like its money well spent, especially this cream colour base as it can be applied directly to bare skin, or layered over foundation, moisturiser powder.
Right, moving onto the eyes. Guess what the first thing I do is? YUP, its prime. I don't think anyone can dispute this - the best eye primer around town (well, for me anyways), is the Urban Decay primer. Add just a pea sized amount over your eyelids and your eyeshadow is guaranteed to stay on crease free for the rest of the day.
As this is the neutral blog, I'm keeping it simple. On the eyes, these two colours combined together make prettiest neutral look ever. Its so effortless and easy to do. Great for beginners, or even people who are generally in a rush in the mornings before college/uni/work. So, to begin with I apply the No7 eyeshadow in Wheatsheaf (on the right) all over my base and then I use NYX nude matte eyeshadow in Haywire. I apply Haywire into my crease, the ends of my eyes and blend blend blend! Its as easy as 1,2,3!
Next, its time for eyeliner and mascara. Below are my holy grail products. I swear by them! The illamasqua gel liner in infinity is by far the best gel liner I have come across. It stays jet black throughout the day and it doesn't smudge! I tend to apply my eyeliner with my MAC 209 eyeliner brush for precision. The mascara I always reach for is Charlotte Tilbury's full fat lashes one (I'm nearly running out, waaa!). 1-2 coats of this and it really opens up your eyes and it isn't glupy in the slightest (something, I honestly cannot stand).
Nearly done guys, BROWS. This little trio is my lifesaver, its the Eyelure brow kit which I really really really like. I don't really use the wax as I find them quite harsh and you end up having those sharpie looking eyebrows (a big no no guys). Instead I go straight in with the powder (the middle one) which matches my eyebrow colour perfectly. I lightly apply this onto my brows with an angled brow brush then I go in with the highlight under my brows (the last colour on the right) and ta da, my brows are done! :)
Last but not least, the lips. You cannot have gone to all of that effort and not have a nice lipstick on. My favourite? BRAVE by MAC. This is such a beautiful colour that goes with any look you create, especially a neutral look so I line my lips with the MAC lipliner in Dervish and then add some of the lipstick on and I AM DONE.
I know this routine sounds REALLY long, but it only takes around 20mins to recreate and lets face it, its worth it! :) Below is a little snippet of the look on myself! :)
So lovelies, I hope you enjoyed this little bblog and for those who want a new look, there you go! :)
Whats your favourite neutral look, what products do you always reach for?
