I know it has become a regular thing for me to apologise for not bblogging often, so I'm not going to do all that blabbing on today. I'm just going to get stuck in! :)
From the title and images you've probably guessed what this post is all about...yes, its BLUSHERS. As always, I can never narrow my beauty products down to 1-2 things so as per I have reviewed my six favourite blushers! :)
I used to stick to the same old MAC blush - Margin...however, recently I have been alternating between blushers when creating different looks. So I thought I would share my views with you! :)
Below is a snapshot of all 6 blushers that I have been loving recently. They are:
1) Nars - Final Cut (£22.50)
2) NYX - Water Lily (£5.50)
3) Charlotte Tilbury - Love Glow, (£30.00)
4) Sleek - Life's a Peach (£4.49)
5) Makeup Academy (MUA) - Shade 4 (£1.00)
6) Charlotte Tilbury - Es Vedra (£30.00)
SO, LETS START REVIEWING!
1) Nars - Final Cut (£22.50)
Lets begin with number one, an amazing blush by Nars. Many of you will probably have tried out a product from Nars whether its their lipsticks, their eyeshadows or the blushes. If not, GO TRY IT! Honestly, I love love love this limited edition blush from Nars. This blush is often described as a peachy coral. It has this gorgeous warm undertone, muted medium orange with a hint of pink. This blush is a shade part of NARS' Final Cut collection which is a blush that is exclusive to Nordstorm (in the US), Holt Renfrew (in Canada) and Selfridges (in the UK).
It's a colour that looks beautiful with warm tones and mixes so well with bronzers and contouring. If you're someone who likes to have a hint of colour on your cheeks which doesn't look OTT or too light, then this is definitely a blush I would recommend! :) £22.50 is a tad pricey but once you try the blush out, you will realise it is worth every penny. I have had no problem getting the true colour from the pan with this blush (unlike many blushers which come out a completely different colour to that in the pan!).
For those that are interested in the Final Cut Collection, I was lucky enough to get my hands on three of the four blushes from this range: Final Cut, Love and New Attitude. They also have a fourth one called Sex Fantasy but it is more for those with paler looking skin. The whole collection is absolutely amazing. Most definitely worth trying out if you're a blush hoarder like myself.
2) NYX - Water Lily (£5.50)
NYX! This blush was a completely spontaneous buy from IMATS (International Makeup Artist Trade Show). I was in the queue at the NYX stand & this blush caught my eye so, without even swatching this blush I put it in my basket and I am SO glad I did. I'm not really a cream blush type of girl but I thought I would give this blush a try as the colour was so ME!
The NYX website describe their blush sticks as "creamy and extremely pigmented sticks". I cannot disagree with them. This is the one of many stick blushes that I have come to love. Just a small glide across my cheeks and a little bit of blending, this blush stays on all day and does not budge.
The main reason I love this blush is because it can be used as an everyday blush as its a brownish reddish pink shade that is ideal to use as a bronzer as well as a blush. It gives that sun-kissed look that looks great during the summer. You can not go wrong when applying these sticks as the colours are very buildable. The stick doesn't give off that oily looking type of shine, quite the opposite. It gives a gorgeous glow.
3) Charlotte Tilbury - Love Glow (£30.00)
Next we have my FAVOURITE BRAND EVER! Okay, so recently I have become slightly obsessed with everything from Charlotte Tilbury's makeup range. Her range is on the pricier side (quite like the Tom Ford makeup collection) however, when you feel like treating yourself, run to Charlotte Tilbury. After watching Charlotte Tilbury's makeup tutorial on Millie Mackintosh I immediately wanted everything. I was lucky enough to be gifted this from my sister as part of my graduation present (she knows me too well!).
This blush is a medium, peachy brown with a satin finish. The outer shade is a lighter, peachy-beige with a pearly sheen, while the interior shade is a muted, rosy brown with a mostly matte finish. The concept is genius. Charlotte Tilbury wanted a format that would be easy to apply so, she created the fail-proof 2-step "swish & pop ritual". You simply swish the brush around the outer shade and tap off the excess. Run the brush flat, up the cheek bone starting from the apple of the cheek, to structure the face. Then you "pop" by taking the pointy end of your brush, dip it into the centre colour, tap off the excess and apply is to the apples of your cheeks. Then you blend seamlessly together.
It's such a luxurious blusher which is very finely-milled, smooth and silky to the touch. Like the other two blushes, I would definitely recommend this blush for those that are looking for a blush to wear on special occasions!
4) Sleek - Life's a Peach (£4.49)
Next, we have an amazing high street brand - Sleek. Over the last two years or so, Sleek has become a very popular brand among beauty product lovers. I know this blush looks like a horrendous ORANGE in the pan but I promise you that on me a light brown, currently NC35 this Sleek blush glides on like a lovely peachy-coraly-orange. It can be built up gradually so there is less chance of you looking like a clown! Orange is really in this season, and if you're looking for a coral type blush for a brown-shade skin tone, then stock up on this blush!
With regards to the staying power, unlike like many of the blushes I have described in this blog, it doesn't last all day however, it does last a reasonable amount of time (approx 3-5 hours) depending on the weather and your skin-type. For the price you're paying for such a pigmented, buildable blush I feel as though 3-5 hours staying power is okay.
If you're looking for a daring, coral-peachy blush why not try out Life's a Peach!
5) Makeup Academy (MUA) - Shade 4 (£1.00)
Yes, I did type the price correctly! It is not a typo. This gorgeous blush from MUA is only £1! Makeup Academy has become one of my favourite brands which I experiment with and use on a regular basis. MUA's makeup collection has several products for just £1!
The product description states that you "just simply sweep across the apples of the cheek and up to the brown bone to create a soft yet beautiful contour". Shade 4 is a warm peach shade with pink undertones. You do not need to keep building up this colour as 1-2 swipes is enough to get the desired colour. As the pigmentation is quite good it blends easily with a soft brush and has this slight shimmer which always looks flattering.
To be honest, I actually love the simply and no-nonsense packaging. As stated previously I am a little blush obsessed, so when this blush is in my draw its so easy to locate. It doesn't come with a mirror like many blushers but you cannot expect that at such a low price, right? The blush fits perfectly into my makeup bag, therefore it has turned into my go to blush when travelling.
I would highly recommend this blush if you're looking for an affordable and pigmented blush!
6) Charlotte Tilbury - Es Vedra (£30.00)
Last, but by no means least we come back to Charlotte Tilbury (YES I AM OBSESSED). Recently, Charlotte Tilbury released these super pigmented beach sticks. The product description states that this stick was "inspired by the unique lighting, golden sands & bronzed goddesses of Ibiza. Es Vedra is a mystic sunset coral, inspired by this magical, magnetic island, possessed by the sirens that lured Ulysses.
Firstly, lets just praise the packaging. The blush comes in this STUNNING rose gold bullet style packaging! It literally looks so amazing, you don't want to ruin it!
Okay, so besides the packaging in one of her tutorials Charlotte Tilbury stated that she opts for this colour when trying to create the perfect Bombshell temptresses, Glamour Muses and Rebels such as Eva Mendes, Rihanna, Miranda Kerr and Jerry Hall. I promise its not as dramatic as it looks!
For my 21st Birthday my AMAZING best friend, treated me to a makeover by Charlotte Tilbury's chief makeup artist in Selfridges. She used this beach stick on me and I was thinking OH MY GOD, I am going to look like an absolute clown - what is she doing. Well, you know how they say don't judge a book by its cover...don't judge a beach stick either.
The beach stick has such a simple format, just like her powered blushers. With the beach stick you simply twist up the colour, apply straight to the skin from the bullet and blend with your fingers for a fresh youthful look of year-round summer. It gives you a healthy looking pop and a 'sexy sunburnt glow'. If that doesn't sound appealing then just give it a try and you will know exactly what I am on about!
Oh and its a hugeee bonus that these beach sticks can also be used on the lips!
So, to wrap it up...I am obsessed with all products from Charlotte Tilbury but these beach sticks are to die for, of course I would recommend them! Do you even need to ask?!
What are you're views on these blushers? Are there any you would recommend?
